Malaga 2025: Christmas Lights Switching Ceremony – Time, Location, Attractions

Malaga 2025: Christmas Lights Switching Ceremony.

Malaga officially kicks off the festive season – and does so spectacularly, as always.
On Friday, November 28th, at 6:30 PM, one of Spain's most recognizable Christmas lights will illuminate the heart of the city. Calle Larios will transform into a fairytale tunnel of light, music, and holiday magic.

This is not just a decoration – it is a ritual that attracts thousands of locals and tourists every year, symbolically ushering in the most beautiful time of the year on the Costa del Sol.

Why is the lighting ceremony in Malaga so special?

Malaga has long been known for having some of the most beautiful Christmas illuminations in all of Spain. Each year, a new, stunning display appears, transforming the city into a scene full of color and light.

This year we have prepared:

• a new light decoration on Calle Larios, inspired by the winter sky and angel wings,
• synchronized light and music shows (hilo musical),
• Christmas installations at Plaza Constitución, Paseo del Parque, Muelle Uno and in the port,
• 3D mapping on the cathedral facade and concerts in the urban space.

It is a spectacle that creates an atmosphere that is difficult to experience in other European cities.

Lights on time – what is worth knowing?

The ceremony will take place on November 28, 2025 at 6:30 PM.

The lighting for the entire centre will then be turned on, and the first light and music show will begin shortly afterwards.

In the following days, the illuminations will accompany three daily shows at the following times:
• 6:30 PM
• 20:00
• 22:00

This is the perfect opportunity to feel the city's atmosphere, take beautiful photos and immerse yourself in the winter magic of Malaga.
